Is this a real possibility? I really want to take my snow tires off.

If you were down this way I would say go for it. But being north more I say wait until Mid April.

Reason being I'm seeing hints of a trough (cold air) and anything is possible regarding snow.

I kept my snow tires on since October 2010. They were actually less expensive than all seasons.

Does anyone have stats for April Snows in VT?

From US National Weather Service Burlington VT

"Another round of record breaking temperatures happened today, shattering old records by as much as 18 degrees in central Vermont.

Also, the highest temperature for March, 65 F, was recorded at the top of Mount Mansfield today.

Temperatures will begin to cool tomorrow with highs in the 60s, and continue through the weekend towards more seasonable values by Monday."

Just like this rain event today was supposed to be 1/2", now is less than a quarter inch drizzle...The storm for Thursday seems to be less now.

We just cant get any moisture to drop.

Expect light snow showers Tuesday-Thursday on and off maybe accumulating to 3" locally in higher elevations.

Should see teens and 20s this week for nights and mornings.

April 2, 2012 Storm Update:

New Euro has a bomb near the coast. NAO going negative so we'll see if this continues. GFS was further OTS but showing something come up the coast as well.

If you dont see me posting that just means it disappeared from the models or is just rain.

Here's the storm.

And here's the Snow results from it. 6-9" of snow for most of vermont. 9-12" for parts of NY.

Latest NAM for this coming Thursday.

Looks like it has 4" for parts of Maine. 2-3" for Northern VT & NH. This storm will drag the trough down and keep it seasonable in the NorthEast. It will be the player in the next event around the Aprilk 2nd.

as pathetic as 4" is, it would actually mean a lot. i think it'd keep Sugarbush open for the weekend and certainly freshen up what little is left.
