This made me laugh, as I have absolutely no idea what it means.

GFS= a computer model that comes out four times a day that has forecasts up to 384 hours out in time.
QPF= quantitative precipiation forecasts, the amount of precipitation the model thinks could occur in an area based on a disturbance, front, low pressure area, etc
NAO= North Atlantic Oscillation. When the oscillation is in its negative phase the Northeast has a higher likelihood of seeing low pressure areas develop along the Atlantic Coast along with cooler than average temperatures.

The National Weather Service is predicting a high of 98 tomorrow in the NEK. I'll be outside painting in the a.m. hours but not the afternoon. In addition to the extreme high temps the ground in this area is very dry. Rivers are low. I was in Montgomery the other day and the Trout River was about as shallow as I've ever seen it. Not a fan of this weather at all. But hey - thanks for the laughs upthread, tkln!

From Mount Washington Observatory FB today.

A thunderstorm centered near Jay Peak, VT could be seen around sunset today heading our way. But as the lift from the heat of the day dissipates, so are the thunderstorms around us. But tomorrow, they will likely fire up again; so, while the peaks may be a great way to escape the heat, be aware that thunderstorms may be forming around you.

For those contemplating a move to Florida because you dont like the cold temps in the low 90's and big humidity is what its all about from May through November down there, this weather we are having wouldnt be worth mentioning down in Fla.

It stinks I had to come back to town to do some things, as it was in the upper 70's in the mountains in Mt Tabor yesterday while it was 90 by route 7. It got down to 60 where I spent the night (at a top secret cave). This heat is unbearable to me. I could never live anywhere South of Vermont, I suspect.
