Best way to get a teaching or sub job in Vermont
We may be moving soon to a small town in Vermont. I am interested in the best way to 'get on the sub list' as a teacher or aid. Should I go to individual schools or via the district?

In Connecticut you will have to submit a resume and application at the BOE administration headquarters; for the specific school district/ town(s) you want to work in. You can agree on what grade level and subjects- you are interviewed.
Also you have to be fingerprinted and have a background check. A BA degree is required.
I would assume the same or similar is done in VT.

Thanks for your reply. I have a MS degree as well as a BA so 'educationally' I'm okay.

I would just call the school district offices you are interested in and see what they require.

If it's a small community you are looking at I would call the school district. If you are looking for a reliable source of income you may want to contact several districts. The smaller the towns or district the fewer sub positions will come up. If you want to sub to teach once in a while then one district should be enough. When my wife was in collage close to twenty years ago the state didn't require anything to sub. I'm sure it didn't hurt that her father was the principal and her mother a teacher, but I'm sure the rules and regulations have changed by now.

I checked into subbing art classes and Rutalnd only require
you show up ! 
50.00 a day is what you get. |

There are a couple of ways to do this:

I live in Colchester and one our district website I just found the following:
Colchester School District: Forms
One of the forms is an application for substituting and I found it with a quick google search.

In Bennington all you need to do is take a 1 day class which is free, fingerprints, and background check. Subs get paid $70 a day without a degree, I believe it's 90 per day with a bachelor's degree.
