Default Gotta have more VT (Springfield)!!!

No questions here.... just some observations and opinions

I really wanted to write this last PM but was just to tired after the 7 1/2 hour drive home. Our family finally got the chance to visit the Springfield area and what seemed like every town on RT 103 while visiting. Everyone we spoke with openly explained Springfield's history and spoke of it's "come back". The overall sense of community in Springfield was everything we were hoping for. Everyone was very welcoming and very helpful. Yes, it is not the most beautiful town in Vermont but boy does it have a lot of character!!! We were a bit saddened by the closure of the Springfield Diner we were looking forward to eating there

Visiting the Rutland area was a bit nerve racking. Too much traffic for our taste and of course Thursday evenings "Tornado Warning" was a bit interest As the sky turned from day to night in the matter of minutes, we immediately headed South, returning the next day to check things out a bit more. Our opinion... nice shopping area, but wouldn't want to live there.

Ludlow is such a beautiful town. We stopped in at Wicked Good Pizza. The name certainly speaks for itself -- wicked good The owners were very helpful and honestly answered a lot of questions we had. By the end of our visit they gave us their card and told us to call if we needed any other info. This type of hospitality is not common here in PA.

We are planning to return in the next couple weeks. We want to check out a few more points of interest that we just didn't have time for in our first visit. I love the visual arts and actually have a degree in advertising art. It just happens to be a love that I have personally set aside for a bit, 10 years to be exact, just like the sap runs in the spring....my creative juices were runing just being there. If only there was a way to paint in the car We just gotta have more VT!!!

Default Springfield Royal Diner

It's open again and the food, so far, is really good!

I'm giggling because I (unfortunately) am friends with a bunch of NY pizza snobs who call Wicked Good Pizza "Wicked Bad". I've never tried their pie so it's refreshing to hear another opinion. We often get pies from Zachary's Pizza house on 103 In Chester. Great pies and other offerings. It reminds me of Greek diner on LI, just not as elaborate.

Springfield is a sinking ship, unfortunately. I own two businesses here and one does well because it's primarily mail order- low overhead helps. The other is a service type, which means dealing with people who intentionally write bad checks. It's rampant in Springtopia- the welfare 'entitlement' and the angry low income people who can afford cigarettes but not proper clothing for their kids. The unemployed breed like bunnies here- for more welfare or just bored? Most single mothers here have several kids by several fathers- and considering most of the single males here are smoking pot and have rotted teeth, the standards are low.
People complain there are no good jobs, but that's simply not true- there are, it's just that the locals don't qualify for a good paying job because they lack skills and education. All my employees commute from other towns... the local applicants are good for nothing more than entertainment.
When possible, we're out of here. Our house unfortunately has lost a lot of value and nobody around here could afford it even at the current value. Even rats know when to abandon a sinking ship- I suggest you take a hint from them, because this sucker has been going down for a while.

Everyone's home values are going down in this economy.

Single mothers with multiple baby daddies are not exclusive to Springfield, VT, and are a sad indication of the loss of morals within our society.

As for the clients who frequent your service business -- is there any way to target what you feel is a better paying demographic?
