Verizon DSL is not available where I may be moving. What do you recommend for DSL/Cable or phone.
Comcast has a 6 months deal but then they jack it up too high for me to afford.
If you have any suggestions let me know.

We have our own local phone company which has DSL and covers 100% of the area.

For the rest of the state, a company from down south, Fairpoint Communication, has purchased the Verizon wireless business and has promised 100% coverage in a couple of years. Alot of skeptics out there about that.

We're fortunate in Burlington: we have a city-owned utility called Burlington Telecom, which offers Phone, Cable TV, and (very) high-speed internet. They brought fiber optic cable right to our door. We switched from Verizon and saved a bundle combining these...They even routed my email from my domain, although they don't host for me...

We have the same local telephone company as MRVphotog does for our phone (love it), but use Comcast for tv/internet. Its expensive, but have never had any issues with it.

Well, I am fed up with the cluelessness of everyone I spoke to by phone. Comcast may or may not do my cable. I just want basic (can't afford more now). The only thing I found out is Verizon will do my phone. DSL/Broadband is still up in the air and I HAVE to have that or I will not move.

Maybe there is something to be said for living in civilization.

We have been here two years and Adelphia (now Comcast) just started cable/internet service where we are. Not meaning to be rude, but blunt yes, if the cost of cable is an issue with affordability which will drive a decision on where to live be prepared for some other serious expenses. Definately look before you leap to avoid frustration.

The Upper Valley, Quechee.
The real estate agent gave me a few numbers. I called and got a bit fed up hearing 'I don't know' from them.
I called the Chamber of Commerce and the woman there said she'd send me a list of ISPs for the area.

I'm going to have to get used to a major reduction in services, I guess.

Internet is the non-negotiable service for me & I use Comcast. However, as soon as Burlington Telecom starts in my area, I'm tempted to switch. If you mention "Front Porch forum" when you sign up for Burlington Telecom, you'll save $25 on your first bill.

Speaking of Front Porch Forum, it might be a good resource to help you ask questions directly to people in Quechee & get settled once you move in.
