Default Any good things about Bennington, VT?

I am considering a position in the Bennington area but after reading all the negative input here, I'm not so sure. Does anyone have any good things to say about Bennington. We have 2 small children (2 1/2 and 4yrs and 1 cooking). How is it for families ase far as school system is there a parochial school and how does it compare, etc..etc.

My step-sister lives in Bennington. It's overall a nice town. It's overall feel is "blue collar". She attended the school system and turned out OK . At the time I was in school I chose not to attend the high school there as it did not have a good reputation-this was 20 years ago though, so I'm sure things have changed. I believe there is a catholic school for younger grades, but not for high school.
Bennington IMO has a "new york" feel vs. "new england" feel. It's news/weather outlets come out of Albany NY. Most people head that way for their major shopping as well.

I really like Arlington. About 20 minutes north.

Thanks again . I'll look into it.
We may visit the area this weekend and look around.
