We will are planning on spending a thanksgiving, the day before, and the weekend after in either Vermont or upstate NY. We hope to spend under $100, or preferably under $90 a night for lodging. For three adults. We will probably not be skiing. We would love a B&B or quaint inn, but realize at this budget we will likely have to settle for a motel - would prefer one that is walking distance to a quaint town though.

I realize this is last minute. Any ideas are appreciated.

Close...
Welcome to Chester, Vermont!*

Chester...the Vermont you've been hoping to find.

Head's up to the OP -- if you are interested in Chester, a word of advice -- Rowell's Inn is far from town as is the Old Town Farm Inn. The Fullerton, Chester House Inn, Hugging Bear Inn, Rose Arbor, and Inn Victoria are right on the green. Motel in the Meadow is right on the outskirts of town and quite a walk. It's not frou-frou and is probably going to be your best bang for the buck. Stone Hearth Inn is a little further past that, and from what I've noticed in years prior, it's very popular with the snowmobile crowd during the season.

If you're considering shopping, you'll be about a good 45 minute ride into Manchester and the outlets. It's very direct from Chester. Or you can head to Weston, (Route 11 to Londonderry, head north on 100) where the annual holiday craft fair is held at the playhouse Thanksgiving weekend, the Vermont Country Store (the main one) is located, among a few other nice shops and a museum.
