Default Vacation in/near Manchester?

I do not ski. Can anyone give me places/things to do in/around Manchester. I plan on going there in Jan. for a weekend getaway.

Thanks!

Are you interested in any outdoor activities like horse drawn sleigh rides and tubing? I can send you links if you're interested in those.

This is east of Manchester, but has some activities you might wish to look into.

Things To Do

sleigh rides are cool, towns, shopping ect... I also need to find a place to stay. A lodge/Inn for around $200 +/- I know there are plenty of places just my a Google search. I am up for driving 1 Hr +/- to see different things/towns.

Thanks!

You'll have plenty of outlet shopping in Manchester. I would recommend a trip to Weston for which has the Vermont Country Store and other little shops. Ludlow, home of Okemo, has funky shops and a few good places to eat.

In the Ludlow area you can rent snow mobiles at Snow Country or go on a snow mobile tour with a guide. snowcountryvt.com The guys there are great, personable, friendly and above all -- safety conscious!

Taylor Farm in Londonderry has sleigh rides -- hopefully there'll be enough snow on the ground when you are here.

I am in Chester, which has a quaint Victorian feel. There are plenty of inns here that are within your budget. Chester, though, is a good 45 mins (depending on weather/other drivers) from Manchester. Something to consider, though.
Chester Vermont Innkeepers Association - Lodging and Accommodations in the Okemo Valley Region
Inn Victoria, Fullerton, Chester House Inn and Hugging Bear are all right on the green in Chester.

(I have no financial interest in Chester -- I own a vacation home in the area.)

Eat breakfast at "Up for Breakfast" in Manchester. You can also take a tour of Robert Todd Lincoln's home of Hildene there.

Just up the road in Arlington is the Normal Rockwell Museum

Norman Rockwell prints, Norman Rockwell posters, Norman Rockwell collectibles, art, figurines, boy scouts

A visit to the Vermont Country Store in Weston can be fun:

If you make it to Ludlow: DJs has delicious food and reasonable prices.
A little further north in Mount Holly is Harry's - a tiny hole-in-the-wall roadside place with awesome food.

Where is DJs?

We love Harry's -- and Little Harry's in Rutland.
