I don't think you want temperatures over 70F because then plants and trees will want to bloom early... The average last freeze is still May. There is plenty of time for a complete pattern reversal although it doesn't even seem remotely possible right now.

The lilacs in Craftsbury have leaf buds as of last weekend. Seems strange because I don't have them in NEK. Way to early if you ask me.

The thermometer read 60 degrees in the shade and it stayed light until well after 6 p.m. Winter is softening here.

Winter started too early in October & November, strangely, despite getting temps in the 60s on November 10 and around there. Almost 12 inches of snow in November!

And almost 10 inches on October 29!

And luckily, the snow usually stops around March 20, anyways in southern & central Vermont.

Only 2007, which had a strangely cold March, (in the zeroes, at least almost down to - 20 F in March!) would still be snowing on April 15!

From 2003-to-2006, I never saw new snow in mid April!

I would definitely expect to hear bird songs by now!

At least the more musical sparrows and not the brown-with-black-spots sparrows at McDonald's. (which are house sparrows and just chirp, also usually hang out near Shaw's)

I think I should hear a robin again shortly, if I didn't already.

Spring is soundin' good, I can confirm that I heard a finch weeks ago.

And yesterday, saw pigeons hanging out at windows just above the Springfield community center basketball court.
