Dorset is a beautiful area. Now there is Dorset, East Dorset and another directional Dorset. I'm not sure which one I was in, but at the time I remember thinking it was one of Vermont's most beautiful towns and areas.
Looked like it could be expensive though.

Dorset is one of the most expensive towns in Vermont Real-Estate wise. Lots of wealthy urban escapees and second homes. check out REALTOR.com - Real Estate Listings & Homes For Sale .

Dorset.....It's all John Irving's fault...as soon as he moved there it's desirability rating went way up. He was my english prof in college, before he became famous....World According to Garp was his 4th book.
I have been admiring Dorset since 1969 and the incredible thing is that it has not changed physically much at all. The comment "lots of wealthy urban escapees" definately had an effect on the real estate thing. When you drive in from the north the first thing you notice is the Dorset County Club(was there when I first drove thru) golf course...alittle diferent view than when you enter most small Vermont villages.
Just about every house in the village is white....there is a reason for that.

You know, when I started house hunting in Vermont, I thought I'd end up in a white clapboard home like in Dorsett.
Then reality set in.
So what did I end up in.
No complaints whatsoever. I'm lovin it.

Great house. It does look very warm and inviting. I don't have a picture in my head of what or where we will be living. When i first started researching i came across Dorset (and all its directionals) and thought it seemed nice then i looked into housing costs and decided to keep looking!

You and me both bro'.
My wife and I spend a lot of time on our porch gazing at the mountain/big hill across from us. With a nice glass of red wine. Only thing is, we spend so much time on the porch that we're turing into a couple of wino's
We get an especially nice view in the evening because our cabin is on the base of a mountain. The setting sun shoots over our cabin, keeping our yard dark but really lighting up the mountain in front of us. It just glows.

I was born and raised in Bennington and so were my parents and grandparents. Most of the information up here is correct, but don't be fooled, there are some nice things in the Bennington area! If you are concerned about the school system, you should look at houses in either Shaftsbury or Arlington, VT. The elementary schools there are of better quality than the Bennington School District ones. Also, if you would consider moving to Bennington, Monument Elementary School is a wonderful school as well. As far as the High School is concerned, there are some fantastic teachers and many students that are willing to learn and really enjoy going to school there. I think the only reason it gets a bad reputation is because the broad demographic of students that attend the school need all different levels of classes.
Try talking to the people at Graphitek, they might be hiring
