I think this is kinda cool and says something about Bratt IMHO

Whoopi Goldberg may not have been born and raised in Vermont, but her 2004 purchase of a 745-acre farm in Brattleboro, Vt., more than makes up for it. The property includes a Colonial style clapboard house, a barn, wooded trails, mountain views, a pond, a stream and a river. She'll spend plenty of time commuting to New York City for her new job as co-host of the talk show 'The View.' The outspoken Goldberg shouldn't have any trouble adjusting.

I had heard she had bought property in the area. But I thought it was in Marlboro.

That's quite a commute to NYC from Brattleboro. Unless she goes by private plane from Keene.

At least she doesn't have to worry about finding a job in the area.

You're right, though. It does say something about Brattleboro.

I heard of another celebrity who "moved" to Brattleboro. I am not mentioning his name here out of respect for his privacy.

I'm not a celebrity but I may be visiting next weekend.

Nope. I'm not.

I wouldn't want to be a celebrity. I like to feel special, sure, but I would not trade my privacy for that. I would not want to be talked about or written about by strangers.

Quite a few "famous" people have either full or part-time residences scattered around Vt. Even some govt types like Paul Bremer are in southern vt. Many of these celebs will be ghosts to the locals because either they are never here or they cloister themselves inside their compounds. As far as Whoopi goes I guess her contribution to the Vt economy should be lauded. Many years ago I met an Appalachian Trail hiker on the trail near Manchester and he was hitching into town to resupply and Dom Deluise actually stopped and gave him a ride as he apparently lives near there. Having been in Manchester numerous times to resupply myself I have spoken to old time locals who spoke very highly of Dom saying he was definately a regular guy.

That's cool but Arlington is not exactly on the way from Bratt to NYC even if you drove Rt 9 west to I87 instead of the more obvious way by just getting on I91 heading south.

Course, she might have been doing some sightseeing during the weekend.
