MRV, I did not mean to imply that the resort and tourist industry as a whole manipulated workers, but from my spouses experience where she is at I can guarantee it is not a resort and the foreigh workers are not having a great time. Her employer cuts corners with everybody, so it's actually not a discrimination issue per se. It's more involving a self centered GM trying to impress superiors by manipulating the budget and shorting employees in general. Such business practices are used anywhere in the country where they can get away with it.

Secessionists Meeting in Tennessee

By BILL POOVEY
Associated Press Writer

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - In an unlikely marriage of desire to secede from the United States, two advocacy groups from opposite political traditions - New England and the South - are sitting down to talk.

I know....we hear the sweatshop thing alot so maybe I am abit sensitive....Regarding the above sitiuation, that stinks, someone should kick his ars...for sure. I do realize that national chains, even ones in Vermont, it's a totally diferent thing. I have been told some nightmare stories from workers at a couple of the big hotels in Burlington.

Does your wife work at one of the places in Taft Corners which is an easy drive for you guys. I hope things improve for your wife and the other employees.

Yea...that group used to have a show on one of the Montpelier local cable channels several years ago but haven't heard a thing about them since then.

Quote:
Vermont, one of the nation's most liberal states, has become a hotbed for liberal secessionists, a fringe movement that gained new traction because of the Iraq war, rising oil prices and the formation of several pro-secession groups.
Hotbed...I don't think so. Gained new traction...no way Jose'.

IMHO Vermonters have a high tolarance for people's ideas, no matter what they are. There is a wonderful talk show every morning on WDEV and once in awhile a man from this group calls in. The moderator, Mark Johnson, lets him say his thing but it's always the same speel and not taken very seriously, nor should it be.
