I love the local thrift store and recycled furniture place. I got a futon sofa plus a maple kitchen table with 6 chairs for $400, which I thought was reasonable considering they have overhead.

I find the best deals can come from Estate Sales rather than classifieds or e-bay, because the folks are looking to clear out a Lot of Stuff fast. There's usually pressure to get the house emptied out so the prices can get fairly low.

I have some stuff from IKEA, but after the newness wears off, it looks kind of sad and soulless. It doesn't have any element of care embodied in it.

We have a buy/sell/give away forum which was an offshoot of one of the many area FC's. I wrote FC when I should have written B/S/G my error.

As for Craigslist -- NYC suburb area -- don't want freaks coming to my home. I've had neighbors have issues. I'd rather learn from their mistakes.

Yes, they were up that way and then built the bakery on 11 just west of the village. I haven't indulged in any of their French pasteries but will confess to be hooked on their cinnamon raisin bread.

Used to swing in there after shopping for fish and produce at the late Black River Produce. Sad that that's gone.

Ikea in Boucherville is much easier to get to over driving into Montreal. It furnished my office beautifully and it's not Walmart crap by any means. Couple it with a trip into Bedford Metro to get decent butter and they also have good bread.

Gerard's bread sold at Richmond market is the closest I've found to French bread although it's still too sour for my tastes. He doesn't bake every day but it's worth the trip.

I agree the bakery in Brandon is pretty good and as close to a French croissant you will get. Less grease than most.

Surprisingly the NECI bakery has an excellent pastry tutor and now serve pastries that are not sickly sweet like most places. Closer to French style than the average bakery.

Love Otter Creek for good old fashioned baked goods though. Way superior to Richmond bakery.

If TJ arrives I'll be a happy bunny.

I just stopped by Otter Creek Bakery after voting and am eating one of their baguettes. Pretty good. We'll be shopping there more often.

Huh? It clearly shows a prison in Rutland. Guess you're not familiar with google maps after all.
