cochran's in richmond is even closer to burlington and has night skiing now.
it's a very tiny ski hill, not a resort. they may serve hot cocoa and hot dogs but maybe not even that, so maybe bring a lunch with you.
but it's great for kids and is very popular with the after school crowd.

Yeah it was a nice day - if anything it was a little too warm. Had to remove the liner of my ski jacket a lunch. But overall, really enjoyed our time in Burlington.

We did eat lunch there....we went to the restaurant up on the third floor of the main building (where you buy lift tickets and rent ski's). It wasn't exceptional, but it wasn't bad either. Moderately priced for a ski resort.

What's Bolton Valley like? I usually ski in NH because the decent mountains there are about an hour closer than the decent mountains in VT, but I have a few discount passes to Bolton Valley and am considering making a trip up there some weekend, staying with friends in Burlington. I generally prefer a mountain that's not overly crowded and has good intermediate terrain with interesting trails (I like trails that wind their way down the mountain as opposed to straight shots down). I'm a strong blue skier and can handle most black trails. I don't do trees (yet) and try to avoid bumps (at least the man made bumps... bumped out natural trails can be fun if my knees are feeling up for the task). For reference, Cannon is probably my favorite mountain of those I've visited. Smuggs is also fun. And I've skied more days at Sunday River than anywhere else (love the trails on Barker, Locke, and White Cap).
