I grew up in Chester, just down the road from BF--we used to call it Fellows Balls, too. It was gritty little town, but there were some cool things about it. We used to get school clothes at Sam's (Army & Navy, not "Outdoor Outfitters"), and one of my favorite treats was going to Fletcher's Stationery for a piece of candy or a toy. As teenagers, my siblings and I would sneak out and go to Rita's for coffee and donuts. I still can't believe they replaced the lovely Arch Bridge with such a boring span.

It is great to see the downtown being spruced up, but yet...there have been other attempts at revitalization in the past that were unsuccessful. Yes, BF is as affordable as all get-out, but buyers aren't exactly lining up to buy all those huge old houses that have been remuddled into tenements. BF has a long history of poverty and social problems to recover from. I wish her luck, but it isn't where I would choose to move to, especially not from out-of-state. Just my opinion, though--it could be a great place for someone with a taste for real estate adventure.
