I know monolithic domes aren't taking the country by storm, but they should be.

That's awesome. We have been investigating all options when it comes to becoming self reliant and energy efficient...I think one of the major things we are considering is geothermal heating/cooling, which does not rely on any fossil fuels...that, combined with solar panels, could create a home that is nearly self sufficient.

I read of one home in Waterbury that was build very efficiently and used the geothermal heating, and their utility bills, including heat and electric, are under $100/month. Even in winter.

But the dome is a great idea for new construction...
