This year the Green Mountain State finished with more than 1.3 million gallons of syrup.

A huge increase from last year's disappointing 750,000 gallons.

An awesome rebound from 2012 for sure but compared to Quebec's(granted, it is larger) production of 145 million gallons of syrup we are a mere blimo on the screen compared to that. Now that's quantity. As far as quality nothing beats Vermont's syrup in that regard.

Happy to hear it, because I love maple sugar candy:
(not the more adulterated with sugar sort, but the more maple-y variety), the melt-in-your-mouth kind. Yum !
It's costly, so is nice to know there won't be shortage/scarcity this year.

Good for VT, but I'll pass on any syrup, not a sweet guy, unless it is in a well crafted cocktail......

Couldn't find a more recent thread on "Maple Syrup" in Vermont so using this one.

Is it being produced right now or is it too early? I know last year was a very late start because of the historic cold February we had. This winter has been warm so maybe it's early?

I saw this post from Michigan and figured Vermont had to be starting now too. & the city name made me think of Vermont.

I know of some folks up here that started tapping their trees last week and even earlier, to be prepared. I've heard some stuff is flowing, but not sure how consistent/etc.

Hah! Your people are SLOW! A whole month ago in Springfield, somebody tapped the first telephone pole.... I've been checking the bucket, but it's still dry.
