Possible reolcation to White River Junction area
Hello, my husband has a possible job offer in White River Junction, Vermont and I want to find out more about the area-specifically how the area rates for families. We have two children (ages 11 and 8) and their education is of the upmost importance. Any suggestions of towns (in eihter NH or Vt) would be great. We'd be looking to buy some land (small farm) but still be close to amentities. We love Vermont, but have not been to this particular area before.
thanks for any help!!

This area is 5 miles from Dartmouth. Norwich is really nice, and just across the river from Dartmouth. Very nice. So is Lyme NH, just up the road. It's a nice area.

You may or may not want to live in WRJ. People have differing opinions. Hartford schools are quite good. I am so pleased with my son's school compared to the one we had back in big taxes/big attitude NY...a small school is helpful for him, and they diagnosed him (for free)--something I'd never had in NY.
You could consider Norwich if you want to stay in VT but it's kind of expensive (not sure what you are interested in). There are plenty of towns in commuting distance of WRJ where you could get a decent amount of land.
I have a 9 year old and if you need more information about things, you can pm me. I will try to help.

Woodstock is a very tourist oriented town. It gets very, very busy in the summer and especially the fall. Lots of second homes in the area. It's personally not my cup of tea, but it may be yours

Beautiful but expensive.
There are a lot of small towns on both sides of the CT river within a 15 minute drive of Hanover & WRJ. I'd suggest going onto a real estate web site ad putting in the WRJ zip code and a reasonable search radius. This will give you an idea of thet towns and their relative prices. The "Upper Valley" is great but the costs vary widely from town to town.

The only way to find what you like is to go there and spend some time traveling around. You cannot make a decision of this magnitude over the internet.
