My family is planning on relocating to Vermont at the end of the school year. Our kids are 8, 5, and 4. We would like to be within a 30 minute drive from DHMC as this is where both my husband and I will be seeking employment. We have been coming to Vermont for the past 10 years to vacation and love the lifestyle. Out town in NJ is growing so rapidly and becoming increasingly overpopulated. So, my request is for town suggestions in the area of DHMC on the Vermont side. All we have are statistics, but not a feel for the overall atmosphere, schools, etc. We are coming up in November and would like a bit of feedback beforehand. Thanks to all!!

I really like Thetford. It's beautiful and rural, yet 20 minutes from White River/Leb/Hanover. Thetford Academy is the local high school which is pseudo-private. Google it to find out more info. Thetford has public elementary schools.
Another nice town is Fairlee and the kids there got to Rivendell Regional School in Orford, NH. Bradford is another nice community and the kids would go to Bradford Elementary and Oxbow High.

ANy idea the driving time from Fairlee and Bradford to Lebanon? We have been checking real estate in Thetford, and reading about the town and it does sound nice. Thanks for the reply!

Fairlee is probably 20-25 minutes, Bradford 30.

Mind if I ask what DHMC is? I have tried to figure it out, really!! I'm guessing the MC stands for Medical Center? Am I way off the mark?

DHMC = Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. It's located in Lebanon, NH.

DHMC is a very loarge hospital with a pretty good network of hospitals in the area around here most ppl make sure the local hospital is affileated with them before they move to that area. You should have no problem getting a job there with the size of it. Picture about 2 times the size of( Mt siani?) hospital in L.A. and constantly growing it's in a small town but it is the main hospital for northern New England. If the hospital your at can't help you they usually medavac you to DHMC.
