So, Gypsy, all things considered, are you glad you made the move?

I don't think I'd like living in an isolated rural setting. I'd prefer to live where there choices of things to do in the community. I doubt I need the dizzying array of choices that I have here in NYC, but at least I need to know I can leave the house, see people and do things. Also, I like living where there is a sense of community and more cosmopolitan people.

I'm wondering where you plan to go when your lease expires? Brattleboro? Burlington? Montpelier? Back to the NYC area? Or do you think you'll stay in the Upper Valley? Do you think you'll stay in Vermont or move to New Hampshire? Or go elsewhere entirely?

Yes, Arel, I am glad we moved. The quality of life here, especially the balancing between home and working is more doable that in Metro NY. If you can make a decent living here, in my part of VT at least, then life is better.

As you know, we live near NH as well. There are things here that simply blow my mind--civility when you shop (clean dressing rooms, no assumptions you are going to 'rob' anything like in NY), people leaving products out without watching them (again, trusting and respecting each other...amazing).

We like the Upper Valley and the school district is very helpful for my son. I also like be near NH (where my husband works) and having the options of getting work there. Where we'd go once the lease is up is still open but I think I will have to remain in this district where I have been assured he is getting the best education.

Fortunately we are well located even if the village offers very little. We went up to Royalton this morning/afternoon and it was a pleasant ride. We're only about 10 minutes from Woodstock..so we have options (things to do) on both sides of the river.
