You'll like it there. I did.

Funny you mention that 'cause I'm reading "A Nation of Sheep" by Judge Andrew Napolitano. It is a really great book about the silent death of our constitution and the sheep-like attitude of most people today. A great read.

Fall 2008 is too far away! I may just have to come up that summer and get a part-time job until the semester starts.

Better plan on making serious money if you plan on moving here. Housing costs are high with property taxes even higher. Don't want to discourage a Libertarian from moving here, but check for a while. You need to spend time driving anywhere, which adds to the overall cost of living here.

The law school does network with the local community about renting places, and the three years I spend there I think is plenty of time to look at properties throughout the state.

As I mentioned in a previous many of the law students rent rooms in homes around the area. My friend in Chelsea rented a room to a student even tho it was a 20 min drive from Chelsea. He moved to Alaska after graduation and is doing well working for the State of Alaska in Juneau. Passed the Alaska Bar exam first time.
This is a cool pic I came across of SR

I remember when I was looking for homes in the Burlington area there were always a lot of nice affordable homes near South Royalton. That's a beautiful area. It must be just far enough away from the expensive Dartmouth area to have low housing costs.

If you want to practice environmental law, you should go to the highest-ranked law school you can get into and afford. Face it, lawyers judge eachother by objective standards like school rankings and grades, not by standards of your commitment to the environment. Also, there are only a handful of environmental law jobs in Vermont. Most jobs are in D.C. Or in bigger states with large state bureaucracies.

Perhaps because their parents paid for law school and for the downpayment on their house in the country that requires them to drive a Suburu Forester (a green one to compensate for the fact that it's a gas-guzzling SUV also purchased by their parents). With an environmental vanity plate. Cosmonewman is correct and clearly speaks from experience. As a top tier law school grad, I know several environmental lawyers who work at DOJ, for the big-name environmental groups, etc. My alma mater is not known at all for environmental law at all but has nationally-known environmental law professors. VLS doesn't have any. It's just not a good school, and, as cosmonewton points out, that is what matters, not how pretty the school is and how warm and fuzzy it makes you feel. In fact, if you feel warm and fuzzy in law school, you should be afraid for your future, very, very afraid. Unless, of course, Mum and Dad will be maintaining the trust fund.
