Are you talking about renting a hotel room or renting an apartment? The reason apartment rentals are high is because of the property tax. The landlord is not going to absorb property tax increases and risk taking a loss on the property. Higher taxs equal higher rentals. When it comes to pets, the number one reason landlords do not accept pets is because of how the rental laws are structured. It is ten times easier to say no pets than rent to an owner with pets. If there are damages, it is not an easy process to get compensated for the damages and actually can often times cost more than the actual damages.
I'm from CT originally and have owned property there that was rented. The same thing happens there. A perfect example is my mothers home in Easton, CT. The town is an expensive town to live in. She rents an in-law apartment and the rent is based off her property taxes. It's much more expensive to rent there than in Fairfield, Trumbull or Bridgeport.

Default VT rentals no pets

Because there is NO affordable housing in VT & they have you by the b@lls. The real estate market here is a joke, no rhyme or reason to their prices, houses will sit on the market for years with no price reduction. They sit and wait for the out of town suckers that love the idea of VT, and unload their over priced dump on those unsuspecting victims. That's what supports VT, vacationers, they are preyed upon here like a sugar daddies. Yes, VT LOVES dogs, but no, no, you can't rent a home if you have them. And yes, many will only rent their places by word of mouth. Taxes, yes, sky high, absolutely insane in this socialist state. No jobs, heroine problems rampant equals tons on the gov't teat.
