Default I love Vermont....

I have loved Vermont since 3rd grade...I am 33 years old...and still love it...I think my kids now know as much as I do because I educate them on little facts about Vermont whenever time permits. I fell in "love" with this state long ago and want to move there so bad and teach (which I do know in Tennessee). I love to learn about this wonderful state, the great people, and rich culture...A Vermonter ...one-day (I hope).~ Maple Belle

I like Burlington; fun night life and not too big of a city. Would not live there though because I am trying to get to a warm weather environement. Very fun to go to in the summer time!!

I have lived in Saxtons River for 20 years. Very small town north of Brattleboro and Westminster. I have seen alot of change in the town since then. Many young couples moving in. More and more children are being home educated or attending private schools, alternate medicine is quite accepted here, I live near an acupuncturist. I always yearned to retire in Fla but the longer I live here the safer I feel and it is almost overwhelming when we go to Fla on vacations, the crime, the traffic. The crime rate here is so low that if that is a car or home break in it is very big news and the whole town will talk about it for months. This is a walking community, people walk to the Main Street Arts which has wonderful programs and entertainment, The Saxtons River Inn where you can sit on the porch on warm nights and enjoy a meal or drinks. We have a river with a waterfall that the kids and adults love to swim in. As far as autism, everyone seems to know someone or have a relative affected by the condition and they have early intervention programs for the young and are mainstreamed into the local schools with special aides. I would suggest going to realtor.com and looking at the various houses for sales in different VT areas. I have to agree that the Weathersfield, Ascutney area is great as far as hopping on the highway and getting to Lebanon, NH. Much shopping in that area and of course Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Any nursing, medical jobs are always available, between Springfield Hospital, Keene Nh medical center. As far as where to raise children, there is the positive and negative anywhere you live. I hate the cold, however, I adore spring and summer and fall and appreciate more then if I lived in a warm climate all year. People just come alive here in the Spring. Good Luck!

Vermont Mom 3333 is on a distinguished road
Default I am at a lost

I am new to this, but I am living in Southern Vermont( Bennington County) and I need to find a better school district for my special needs 9 year old daughter( with Autistic traits)
Is there anyone who knows where there are decent schools upstate in Vermont?
I have been warned about Orange County, are there other places that I should stay away from?
I need to find a school that works well with the parents pertaining to their childs I.E.P.
I need to move sometime this summer, my ex husband who is on probation for Aggravated Domestic and Aggravated Sexual Assault is getting off Supervised visitation and the Restraining order that I have against him ends this November. I need to protect my children and myself.Does anyone know of a good school and living area out of Bennington County?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you
