How do you feel about Johnson and other towns in that area? ( Not necessarily including Stowe)

Absolutely. I'm not crazy about the Waterbury/Stowe area. Too congested. I do like Johnson, moving west and down over to St Johnsbury. Ideally, we'd like to be within 45min or so of Montpelier. Someplace small but strong community. Thanks for all the replies!

I live in St Albans. It has a newly revised downtown that is wonderful. St Albans has it's own fire, police, ambulance service. The high school is accredited for AP level classes and the tech center is known for being the place for kids to really get good experience. The city is working on replacing many sidewalks and I can walk my dog all over without any trouble.
The Rec dept has ongoing activities for all levels of interest. The Maple Run is held each year along with the Maple Festival which is well known and usually published in major magazines. We love to camp and Lake Cami is the largest campground around and is just beautiful. Primitive camping is just a short ferry ride to the best kept secret anywhere. It's Burton Island.
I could go on but maybe you should just take a look
Good Luck in your search.
