My son's college has a family day weekend coming up. I am wondering if we will catch the spectacular foliage that Vermont is known for - or, if it's too late.

It's not too late. Check the "Vt official picture thread" (sticky) in this section. Southern VT still has plenty of leaves on trees and more color to come.
Other folks will have to opine on what it's like elsewhere around the state-I only know the conditions in southeast/valley area, near NH/MA.

The mountain areas may be gone by but the valley areas should be great.
Have fun!!

Drove from SW VT to NEK via Bratt this weekend. The eastern side of the state should be lovely; Rte 9 between Benn and Bratt is past peak.

The valleys should be peak, around brattleboro, up rt 30 should be great. The top of the "greens" like up around searsburg on rt 9 will be past peak, but I was up there just a few days ago and it was peak, there will still be lots of color, your actually coming at the perfect time. Enjoy

I can't wait! It's Family Weekend at my son's college. Located close to Bratt, east of Benn. We are leaving tomorrow AM.

Vermont has to be one of my favorite places on earth!
