Many of us think that Burlington is paradise compared to where we've come from and seen throughout much of the USA. People here in Burlington are open-minded, friendly, creative, odd and strange and from all over the US. A wonderful thing in the colorless corporate culture of our contemporary times ! If I wasn't in Burlington, I'd be living in Ithaca, NY or Arcata, CA or Bend, OR or Homer, AK or Portland, MN or Taos, NM, etc., etc. My style is the funky and fun communities. To me these places are much nicer than interstate encircled suburbia. And I'll pay more to live in them. As far as "the best thing to come out of Burlington"---I doubt most people think of I-89. Personally, I think of the awesome rock band PHISH! A band that revolutionized music in the 90's and is the epitome of what now symbolizes Vermont for most younger people.

This depends on where you are flying to. We have great fares to NY,FL,
and a few other markets. I can tell you that it is very expensive to many areas. I can't fly between here and Milwaukee in the summer for less than $400 to $450. Chicago not too bad though. We really need southwest or AirTran.

I could not agree more. And let's not forget why places are expensive.
Supply and Demand. Lots of people want to live in Burlington. Some don't though, and that's why God created Orlando and New Jersey.

Frankly I'm shocked there aren't a lot more renovated areas. The housing market in Burlington is extremely tight and there are a lot of people willing to spend big bucks. I'm surprised that every house in the North End and Winooski hasn't been bulldozed. This would have happened in most cities years ago.
Besides, who are all these people leaving Burlington? It's booming. The only people who seem to be leaving are the people who moved here and discovered that it's a. cold, b. expensive, or c. infested with hippies. A five minute google search before they got here would have been a good idea. It would be like me moving to Orlando and whining because it's hot and full of strip malls.

Maybe on a donkey. No even that would be less.
It really bugs me when people write this kind of stuff and people from outside the area take it for a fact.

LOL Based on my visit and research I can see this may very well be true.

We did not time our drive when we went on that Friday during rush hour but I can tell you it was not even close what they are saying here. Driving was a breeze compared to anywhere I have ever lived.

Quickdraw you are making my day here. I can't stop laughing at this one. Mainly because I did live in Orlando FL for 2 years. If God created Orlando I want to meet him just so I can ask him why. lol I can't wait to move to Burlington. Only about 2 months or so to go!
