I have been a regular visitor to VT for years and am considering early retirement and moving to the Colchester area to take advantage of outdoor activities in summer and winter and live a quieter and less hectic lifestyle than here in the Balt/DC metro area.

I already know cost of living there is high, so I was wondering what the odds of finding part time employment would be? I have excellent mechanical skills, an electrical license, and have done Telecom/Datacomm work all my life, but a hard worker and quick study, so pretty open to what I would/could do if there is any opportunity there.

I would think that with your skills, you should be able to find part time work in Colchester or elsewhere in Chittenden county. Remember, though, that winter is seven months long up here. If I were you, I'd head South.
Also Vermont does not coddle retirees--all of your retirement income will be taxed. And as you pointed out,the COL is high.
