Anyways wasn't aware 300 or 35k was a liltte bit of money.. buys a nice house in most places lol

After reading your posts and criteria I can only suggest that you actually budget some time and cash and come up to see for yourself. What you read from many sources and hear from people may or may not meet expectations as there is a lot of fiction out there, not necessarily meant to deceive, but not quite accurate either. Good luck.

Regarding snowmobiling, I would not really say that there are very distinct "snowmobile towns" and I work with guys from way up north where it seems everbody owns a sled. These places are very rural and quite a bit apart from your stated preference criteria. However, the state VAST system maintains a significant network of trails statewide for recreational riding. If racing is your interest I really don't know much, but imagine there are clubs and groups that you might be able to research on the net. I would check with VAST (Vt area snow travellers) as they seem to be the focal group as a portion of all machine registrations goes to them to promote and maintain the sport or activity.

In Vermont??? No offense, but I don't think that is a reasonable expectation, given your other requirements. If you were willing to be further away from a population center, maybe. But you also have to factor in ongoing costs like taxes and gas and vehicle upkeep and all that good stuff.
PS, a drive to NYC or CT IN 2 TO 3 HOURS??? Fuggedaboudit. Ain't possible. Too many mountains and curves. People in CT have a hard time with a 2 hour commute to CT. If you hit the northway from Glenns Falls in NY, you still have a long drive past Albany and the rest of NY to get to NYC.

I'm doing VT exit 6 I-91 to the I-91/I-95 merge in CT in about 2.25 hours when there's no traffic. If I'm not driving a commercial vehicle, I'll pick up the Wilbur Cross Pkwy (about CT Exit 17 on I-91) which will wind me up in Bridgeport in 2.5 hours.
If the traffic is moving and a driver can keep it at 68 it is doable.

Land, Yet not too too far from a major city or town like 30-45 mins out.
Maybe not too bad of a drive to CT or NYC 2-3 hours?
and Very importantly near good snowmobiling!
Do any towns like this transistion into a snowmobile type of town during the winter?
Can't wait to hear your feedback thanks!
Also on a side note, what might be considered affordable towns right outside burlington?

Nothing in Vermont will meet all of your requirements.
If you want a pretty area, I'd suggest you live in the western part of the Berkshires in Massachusetts and make the Springfield/Hartford area your big city 45 minutes away.

How about this. Maybe I've got what you're looking for.
20 acres, surrounded by Green Mtn. National Forest on 3 sides.
Brattleboro: 24 miles away.
Bennington: 12 miles.
Springfield, Ma: 1 hr.,20 mins.
Hartford, Ct: 2 hrs.
Albany, N.Y: 1 hr.
Butted up against VAST trail system, no trailer needed. Ride from the house to the trail. Several outbuildings, plus 100 yr. old colonial "fix-as-we-go" house with new septic, drilled well, new 200 amp. service.
There's over 1000 ft. of frontage on the state road, and we previously were permitted to park snowmobilers on the premises for a fee. There's a building we used for gathering, warming, hanging out, etc. with a woodstove and some furniture for riders to stop and relax.
Recently developed a roughed-in road around the 20 acres for snowmobiles, 4 wheelers, or even 4 wheel drive vehicles. Never had access to the back 20 till this year. Been here since 1995. Spent several thousand dollars on excavation to improve that portion of the property, but well worth it.
Babbling brook out back, approx. 1100 feet behind home. Dumps into beaver pond. Sloping land, wooded but recently thinned out for managed growth.
35 mile views of the backsides of 3 major ski areas from the kitchen table, or anywhere outside in the yard. Very nice.
Based on what you described you were interested in, maybe this would work for you, TacticalThinking.

Heck, I would buy the above listing from how it sounds, but after losing the equivalent to a years' salary in the past two months with the slide in the economy guess I'll have to really set the sights more now then ever on a region with affordability being the prime criteria. The above listing sounds likes it's in Woodford where there is plenty of snowfall.

We really don't have it listed, just entertaining the thought of moving. When I saw Tactical's post about what he was looking for, I thought it fit the description of his dream place pretty closely.
