Help Me Find The SPOT!
Ok I'm possibly looking to relocate to the stunningly beautiful state of Vermont.
This is what I'm looking for
Land, Yet not too too far from a major city or town like 30-45 mins out.
Maybe not too bad of a drive to CT or NYC 2-3 hours?
and Very importantly near good snowmobiling!
Do any towns like this transistion into a snowmobile type of town during the winter?
Can't wait to hear your feedback thanks!
Also on a side note, what might be considered affordable towns right outside burlington?

A couple questions:
1. Why do you want to move?
2. What type of work will you be looking for?
3. What do YOU define as an affordable town?
You could check out the Bennington area....Woodford is a huge snowmobiling area (just east of Bennington) and you are 3 ish hours from NYC.

I'm not a snowmobiler myself, but my friends run the little general store in Belmont, and they get TONS of snowmobilers through there. The Belmont/Mt. Holly area is very rural and pretty, a 20 or 30 minute drive to Rutland, depending how far off Rt. 103 you are. Good luck!

I'd definately stick to Southern VT since you want to be closer to the City....The Mt. Holly area is nice, with Rutland nearby for your shopping/service type needs.

And if you happen to live anywhere near Mt. Holly, you can buy some of the very best milk in the state at Farmer' John's

In Vermont??? No offense, but I don't think that is a reasonable expectation, given your other requirements. If you were willing to be further away from a population center, maybe. But you also have to factor in ongoing costs like taxes and gas and vehicle upkeep and all that good stuff.
PS, a drive to NYC or CT IN 2 TO 3 HOURS??? Fuggedaboudit. Ain't possible. Too many mountains and curves. People in CT have a hard time with a 2 hour commute to CT. If you hit the northway from Glenns Falls in NY, you still have a long drive past Albany and the rest of NY to get to NYC.

I agree, you're not going to get a 2,000 sq. foot house in VT for that small amount of money. You're going to be hard pressed to get anything for that small amount of money in VT. Good luck!
