Default Windsor/Corrections

Is there anyone out there that could possibly give me some information on the Southeast State Correctional Facility in Windsor? I know a little about it. Are there advancement opportunities there compared to other facilities? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Can't give any current specifics on Windsor, but having worked in the justice field and knowing folks in corrections/probation/parole, jobs of this type don't really have lateral hire, but with experience you could perhaps move into supervisory positions perhaps sooner. Being a state employee means you are in the union (VSEA) and advancements in your grade are governed by time measured steps. I can tell you that corrections has a pretty high turnover rate for new personnel, thus this is why there is continious open recruitment. There are plans in the works to restructure and align the correctional facilities and programs as they behind education are the highest cost burdens to the state.

Hi, I am familiar with the DOC and the Windsor facility as well as Springfield and the facility in St. Albans. Feel free to email me privately if you would like; are you more interested in the CO information or in the VA division of DOC? I have both a business and friendship relationship with some of the personnel at the facilities.
