Morrisville is a settlement within in the town of Morristown, so technically, you are going to both.

MRVphotog, somebody posted a bunch of photos of the state office complex on flickr. Do a search there on Waterbury Vermont and you'll find a series of them. Oh yeah, there are some photos of the filled reservoir as well.

Adream, the answer to your question is a bit complicated. Dr Moses Morse of Worthington Mass petitioned for a land grant back in 1780. The grant became Morristown, perhaps as a corruption of the name Morse. The original settlement was at what is now called Morristown Corners, and there were the outlying settlements of Cadys Falls and Morrisville within the area. Morrisville got its start when there was a sawmill built at the nearby Lamoille river. Both towns grew, and my ancient Cram map (circa 1900) lists MorrisTOWN as having a population of 2410 and MorrisVILLE having a pop of 1262. Even so, MorrisVILLE was incorporated as a village in 1888 and because of the lumber trade, and the presence of the Portland and Ogdensberg Railroad, became the dominant town.

FWIW, Morristown has been located in Rutland County, Chittenden County, Orleans County, and Lamoille County. Part of the current boundries include a bit of the lost town of Sterling.

WOW - that certainly answers my question very thoroughly! Thank you Harry Chickpea!

That's a great answer, as well Vter; and in a strange way - somewhat existential...

I have a what some would call silly question but I like to know what I am talking about when speaking to my family members about our pending move. Should I be saying Waterbury Village or Village of Waterbury?
