Back in the 80's we used to go the Ransom & Hastings in Bratt for drunken debauchery. I lived in Keene, NH (actually, Spofford) and I, along with a bunch of other hooligans, would ride our Harley's to Ransom's to drink, shoot pool and pick up loose woman.

There were some other bars there but I don't remember the names.

I was just reading an article about Brattleboro and it kicked in the memory. It's been a long time since I was there. Heck, it's been a long time since I was in a bar!

Default Ransom Hastings

Yes, I remember this place. I played there with my 3pc band back in the late 80's ...somewhere around '87. I remember dealing with a guy there named Norman. He was real heavy set..big dude. He was the one who paid us at the end of the night. Had a lot of fun there. Heard he died shortly after we stopped playing there. It was a bit of a drive from Springfield,Ma where we re from, but worth it . Great audience.Love Vt. Also played Flat Street backinaday....I guess I been around...old man....lol

Yes I Spent many nights drinking at ransoms. Those were in the days when the town was more redneck then hippie. Now the rednecks are pretty much gone. It was a local bar where at happy hour they would spin a big wheel of fortune type thing and whatever price it landed on you had something like 15 minutes to drink at that price. I think it went from .05 to 1.00 anyway made for some extremely drunk crowds, spilling out onto elliot street, everyone out there smoking and drinking. Fights. That scene is largely gone now, or at least I am to old to know about it. The state took away happy hours, drinks are expensive and now you go to jail for fighting.
