Fort Dummer is nice if you're just looking for a cheap place to pitch a tent, but it's right next to the interstate (you can hear it) and can get crowded. If you're an RV person, there is the Camperama in Townshend or the Kenolie Village Campground in Brookline (both 15-20 minutes from Brattleboro). The Bald Mountain Campground in Townshend is much more tent friendly than the others.

Jamaica State Park is great if you don't feel the need to be too close to Bratt.

We stayed at a place along 9 west of 100. Would not recommend it. Lots of truck noise at night.
