Potential buyers will weigh that consideration against their perceived need to own one. If the law states, "While this gun is usable or recognizable as a weapon, you will be responsible for it," every purchaser will become a passionate advocate of gun control-- and only the control of his gun.

It's time people started realizing they can't be dismissed as just another household appliance.
What you have proposed is unconstitutional.

We should have basic firearms safety taught in schools though.

There is no doubt but that it is going to cost VT, and without yielding the State a benefit in any fashion. It was a slap at the law-abiding rather than anything that would make our schools safer or stop criminals from doing criminal behavior or crazies from doing crazy behavior.

If Century Arms leaves the state it's going to be a huge blow to that community. Lots of jobs and millions of dollars lost. And nothing to replace it.

I don't think the Second Amendment preserves anybody's right to be irresponsible about the disposition of a weapon. Doesn't the NRA already boast, "You can have my gun when you unglue it from my cold, dead hands"? All we need is more of that glue.

People who like the NY/MA/CT/NJ/MD/CA/OR style severe weapons restrictions can move there too. Are those places the kind of State you want to live in? Is that what you want VT to become?

I'd have no problem moving to any of those states if I found their government at all levels to be as responsive as they are here in Vermont.

It does seem to be that the only time weapons restrictions are a problem for the public is when they are imposed on white folks. But that's a different topic.

Again with the b.s. made up crap. There are already laws on the books for prison time with the portion of your dribble I bolded.

Unnamed progressive: "There should be a law against posting false information online..."

Continue on though, I love when someone who knows nothing about firearms and firearms law spouts off what they feel should be done.

There are any number of people who know guns better than they know human psychology. Over 80% of gun homicides and probably close to 100% of the annual 125,000 armed robberies are committed with a gun somebody decided was just another household appliance and left unsecured or sold or gave away or pawned or lost or lent or.... When people realize the gun they buy is theirs for life no matter who's holding it, they're going to be a lot more careful about owning it.

Maybe if our courts kept criminals in prison there'd be less of them out free to steal from people.

there are far more guns than criminals in america, and if gun owners are smart enough to keep theirs in their control, the criminals will have to buy their own. Irresponsible gun owners are the ones providing the weapons that kill about 8,000 people a year-- and some of the shooters are as young as 4.
