Default Bennington area high schools

Hi, My husband may accept a job in Albany and we have long shared a dream of living in Vermont. We have teenage daughters and a good high school and a town with "stuff to do" are musts. Any suggestions within an hour of Albany?
Thanks!

Ugh. First of all, I would NOT want to do that commute every day. Route 9 (7 in NY) is narrow and windy and not all that fast. There are some nice areas around Albany that would be a much better commute.
That said, the only town of size in that area is Bennington. The high school is Mount Anthony Union. Sending towns are Woodford, Bennington, Pownal, North Bennington, and Shaftsbury. Arlington is a nice small town with a good small high school, but thats putting you out of your range.

Vter, thanks for your reply. My husband will not actually have to commute everyday but maybe a few times a week. How is Mount Anthony Union and how is the Bennington area for teens? Does Old Bennington also attend Mount Anthony? Also, what town around Albany do you prefer?

Lots of questions!

Thanks!

Mt. Anthony is an OK school. My step siblings graduated from there and they turned out allright .
Mt. Anthony has a good sports program, so if you're kids are into that they'll have fun.
Growing up they/we (when I visited) did typical teenage stuff - go to the movies, hang out at a friends house etc.
I like Brunswick, near Troy. It's growing fairly fast though, but it still feels rural even though there is some suburbia creeping in/around.
