Rental in Williston Vermont ???
My husband and my 3 beautiful and handfull boys are moving from Florida to Williston, Vermont, in June. I did some search online and it seems impossible to see what's available to rent in this town . None of us had leaved before in the big north !!!!!!. We are just relocating for 3 years so don't want to bother buying a house, the rental option seems more appropriate, with of course a very very short commute for my dear husband who had no clue how to drive in the snow !!!!!!! . Is it easy to find a place to rent in Williston or near the impossible ? Budget is around $1400/month.
Thank you so much for giving any website or infos related to my question.

Check out Craigslist or the Burlington Free Press if you have not done so already. Williston is a suburban/rural community (depending on wshere in town you are) with mostly single family homes and some condo complexes. Are you considering other towns as well?

Consider Essex and Hinesburg as well. The market is tight, but it is enough outside of Burlington to not be as much affected by the college students. Sounds like he might be a manager of one of the chain stores at the mall? You'll enjoy the spring summer and fall, just don't freak out in the winter. Make friends and start activities before the clouds and dark roll in. Good luck.

Well, we don't absolutly have to found a house in Williston but might as well try to find one close to hubby's work, and since the elementary school seems very good, Willliston is my first choice , but i guess we gonna have to look around also. We are looking for a subdivision and area with a lot of kid activities to keep them super busy, happy !!!! We're big on sport in our family ( with 4 boys, including my husband............it's a no kidding subject !!!!!!).
Thanks for your replies, and hints, i'll check on the towns you indicated, and as far as Craigslist, not much there ,for a rental in Williston !!!!!!! ( in our price range anyway !!). But i'll keep looking.

Hi there! If you can afford 1400 a month I would look at buying. The rates are very low right now and prices are some what going down. I just saw on the news a couple of days ago that Vermont and North Dakota are the only two states that had a gain in housing prices. That means Vermont, especially Chittenden County, is a great place to invest in real estate. Moderator cut-no realtor advertising

Have to agree that home ownership does have it's benefits and it was interesting to read that Vermont has done well in maintaining equity value. This however is a double edged sword especially for mid range cost homes as we have not yet seen the end of market volitality and the associated impacts on consumer goods and energy expenses not to mention the labor market. For those with stable well paying jobs there are some very nice homes out there to buy despite the relative shortage compared to other states. The unfortunate problem for many is that many homes here will remain priced above their means.
