Question My husband and I are relocating to Williston, VT

My husband is in the Army and we are relocating to Williston, VT from Fredericksburg, VA. It is to far for us to travel to come take our time and look. We are looking for a rental. Preferably close to the city and close to downtown, the night life and restaurants. We are looking for a house to rent but are willing to consider a townhouse or big apartment. We also have a small well trained dog. Help if you can. This is such a struggle. The military is not giving us a definite date but it will be the end of June early July time frame. Thanks

I live in Williston. Our Nightlife and restaurants consist of Ponderosa, Chili's, Longhorn Steak house and a handful of mom and pop places. You probably won't be able to afford a big place in Burlington. I'd look in South Burlington, it's pretty suburban but very close to Burlington. And off the highway from Williston.

I also serve here attached to the Mountain Bn. PM me and I might be able to help with more information or direct you to personnel here as well as family support services that can provide assistance. Remember that we always take care of our own.

If you are looking for nightlife, this is the wrong place to be. The nightlife here caters to the college students and isn't that great to begin with.

If you want to be close to restaurants, I would live closer to downtown Burlington.

I would also consider the Mallets Bay area of Colchester. It's about 5-10 minutes from Burlington and Winooski. It's also an easy commute to Essex and you may find it a little cheaper as far as the housing.

Colchester would be a place I would suggest as well unless you are willing to travel about a half hour. If you want to rent start looking now unless you know your move date will be further off. Rent around Burlington is tough if you have pets. A coworker who has a dog spent close to two months looking for a good place that would take dogs. The closer you live to Burlington the harder it is to find rental property, but once schools close for the summer the rental market will open up more.
