Question Recommendations...?

I know that lots of people have asked for recommendations of towns and the usual response is "not VT". My family is returning to VT after seven years of living in FL. I know that VT is expensive and I am still determined to move not only to get more rural and get seasons, but most importantly to live near my sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, neices, nephews, cousins etc. Can someone please give me some recommendations for small towns that haven't spiked (for instance when we bought our house in Bristol in 2000, it was cheap, now you can't touch anything there for less than $200,000 it seems.) in cost lately. I have lived in Peru, Manchester (neither financed by me-that is when I lived at home with my parents), Burlington, St. Albans, Hinesburg and Bristol. I most liked Bristol-anyone have any recommendations for me? THANKS!!!

Bristol is still "affordable" compared to the surrounding areas. Starksboro and Monkton talso have some reasonably priced properties. I don't think you can get much for under 200K, but bump it up to $250 and you can find properties.
The Northeast Kingdom is the only other area where you may be able to find property under 200K. The only problem with that is jobs are scarce in that region.

Default affordable home

Everyone has a different idea of affordable. What would you like to spend and what size house are you looking for?

Upper valley. West fairlee, post mills, vershire, couple of others. Decent houses for 200k. Commute to West Leb/Hanover not bad. Commute to Montpelier about the same.
