The first area that comes to mind is the Mad River Valley (Waitsfield/Warren). You've got Mad River Glen and Sugarbush right there. Stowe is north by about 1/2 hour (did I get that right MRGphotog?) and Killington/Pico 45ish minutes to the south.
OR, you could look in the Killington area and have Sugarbush/Mad River 45 minutes north and Okemo/Mt. Snow to the south.
I personally prefer the mountains in northern Vermont, basically Sugarbush/MRG north. I find the mountains more challenging and usually have better snow.

Don't know who this MRGphotog person is but Waterbury would be more centrally located to Stowe, Bolton, Smuggs, the Bush and MRG. Stowe, the resort, not the town is 42m from the MRV so it's about an hour. Montpelier is pretty centrally located to a bunch of places too.

Wallingford/Danby/Manchester. Within easy drive of Killington, Pico, Okemo, Bromley and Stratton.

I don't think Dover is very centrally located for skiing multiple areas but Mt Snow is right there and about 45min north is Stratton and another 15 min to Bromley.
