Default Vermont ranked as having some of the worst bridges in the country

I have seen some of the bridges on I-89 where there are nets in place to prevent concete from crumbling down on to cars.

Burlington, Vermont - July 31, 2008
A study released on Thursday, shows Vermont and New Hampshire have some of the worst bridges in the country.

The report from the Reason Foundation ranks Vermont #44 for deficient bridges, with nearly 36 percent of the state's bridges deemed structurally deficient or functionally obsolete.

Yeah I believe it. I've been underneath some bridges, fishing, and have seen things that make me not want to go on those bridges anymore...

Replace em all with retro covered wood bridges. It'll up the states scenic value. Sure it'll slow traffic down especially on the interstates, but without an economy VTers don't need to be anywhere on time. Slow down enjoy the view leave traveling at modern speed to those rat race dummies down south.

I can just visualize a McMansion size wooden covered bridge on the interstates. I don't think it would go over very well. It would save on those "bridges freeze before road" signs though, and probably save a few lives.

The winters and the salt don't treat the roads and the bridges well here. If anyone has gone or will go through Winooski soon look at the bridge that heads up to Burlington. This bridge was just redone a few years ago and it's now falling apart.
