But, then again, we are so proud of our socialist unintended consequences legislators. I know I was when I just got my annual tax bill yesterday ( much higher, yeah, a big surprise). After my impending deployment I know I will be gone from here. I just hope my spouse can get everything packed in time and get a good offer on the house before my return flight's landing gear hits the runway.
Quite true. Our "masters" think they know what's best for us. The fact we got civil unions doesn't bother me as much as how it was forced on us (personally I'd get the government entirely out of the marriage business). And this socialism is bringing things closer to a breaking point. Eventually more people will be on welfare, heating fuel assistance and other such programs than people earning their own living. The people who are paying the taxes are getting sick of it. I see it all around me. Myself included, I got land in another state, with no property taxes on it at that...I'm not interested in paying these taxes for unnecessary waste.

What the sign means is that those in Vermont need to get out more. Yes, it is liberal but there are so many farmers and rednecks who cannot possibly see another point of view, or another lifestyle that doesn't include cattle.

Bracing for a tropical storm.............

Dumb luck for myself. As if I have not had enough rain I am heading down to SC and then Va for a week starting Wednesday on a trip booked months ago. I see the forecast for here in Vt will be pretty good though.

I'm a Canadian and did believe the slogan to be a call to return to the root politics and culture of the State-like freedom to live your lives in a traditional "Vermonter" fashion. Farming , non materialistic-what? a hippie tradition. I'm hetero but respect any political entity that can recognize that homosexuality is no threat at all. What scares me more in VT is the rampant needle drug use, and specifically heroin. I recently parked outside a pub near Norwich University and saw a use syringe under my car-wtf?? In such a bucolic place how and in what dimension do you need smack/ cris-meth/ whatever??

If your a diabetic is one meaning that they use syringes. Vermont has drug users just like any other place, including Canada. Northfield has students from all over the country.

I was up in Montreal and there was a broken beer bottle under my car. Did it scare me into thinking that all Canadians were drunks......no.
