LOL! You don't do a number of things. Wait until it has left for night foraging, and sling a bunch of mothballs under the screen porch. That is about the simplest solution.

Last winter we got stuck in a ditch/snow pile...didn't have a winch, but had a very kind individual offer to pull us out.

He pulled us out.

And in the process, our Jeep slammed into his back bumper, causing $450 worth of damage (that we of course paid for).

I told him that I really, REALLY hoped this wouldn't stop his good samaritan ways.

If you hear an animal moaning or a baby crying in the woods, best not to follow the sound. Keep your dog close until your familiar with your surroundings. He may come upon a porcupine or a fischer cat.
My cat was attacked by a bobcat when we were living here for about four months. He barely survived. Transplanted dogs and cats don't realize that they are the prey now.

Oh, and don't forget to turn your hose off!! I can't tell you how many times I have run my well dry because I forgot to turn the hose off. Unfortunately, I don't think my well was drilled correctly to begin with.

We've heard the baby crying sound during the night. It freaked me out, but then I realized it was an animal. I've read too many ghost stories. LOL

They say if you hear something that sounds like a woman or child screaming like she is being murdered, it is the sound of a fisher cat.

If a woman really is being murdered, it would be horrible if her screams were interpreted as being froom a fisher cat.

You don't want to run into a fisher cat, and then on the other hand, you don't want another Kitty Genovese.

The first time I heard a fisher cat I was completely freaked out. The sound was very close to a woman screaming, but did not mimic it exactly. There was something inhuman about the sound. In other words, I didn't think it was a woman screaming, I thought it was something else that sounded very much like a woman screaming.

When I lived up north I got a gun because of the coy dogs in my area. I had let my dog out on his run one night so he could go to the bathroom. About 10 minutes later I heard a commotion, discovered several coy dogs who were stalking my dog but who seemed reluctant to venture into the bright light of the back yard floodlights in order to attack him. One other time I was picking berries and ran into a bear. It didn't bother me, and lumbered off into the brush, but it scared me enough so that after that I carried my gun if I was going off alone to an isolated spot to hike or pick berries.
