For those who are interested, here is an update on my move from Brooklyn to Brattleboro.

It looks like I will be moving up at the end of August or early September.

I was up in Brattleboro this weekend. Got a nice apartment in a big Victorian house. Thankfully, I got an apartment that will accept the cats. And it is a month-to-month rental, so I can move when I want to, without having to deal with a lease.

I heeded people's advice and rented first. So now I can take my time deciding if I want to stay in Brattleboro. And, if I do, I can house-hunt at leisure.

Brattleboro is becoming increasingly familiar to me and I am feeling increasingly at home there.

I am looking forward to living in a town with a great sense of community and lots of things to do. From my research it seems Brattleboro is a good fit for me, but only time will tell. Although I will miss some aspects of Brooklyn, there are many things that I won't miss at all.

But I am concerned about winter driving on all those hilly roads in Vermont, and, of course, I am concerned about economic issues.

If Brattleboro turns out to not be a good place for me, I will move on. That's one of the benefits of renting first.

Let's see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

It's been my experience that Vermont knows how to take care of snowy roads better than anyone. I'm sure you'll be fine. Best of luck to you!

Congratulations and best of luck in your new home!!! You'll do fine in the winter as long as you have a 4 wheel drive. The roads arent that bad.

That is wonderful news arel. I am so happy it is finally happening for you. And you will be living there during the foliage, how lucky you are. Congrads to you. I hope Brattleboro and your life in Vermont is everything you want it to be. Oh, and I am glad you found a place that will accept your kitties. I couldnt be without mine. I know how important that was for you.
