Default Wheel Inn and Ferry

We are taking our Louisiana friends to Fort Ti for the day (mid-Oct) and thinking of taking the ferry back across and going to the Wheel Inn in Benson for dinner. Do they still have great home cooking and large portions? We went there only once, years ago.

Would love any comments on the ferry. We have never been on this one. Is it always on time? I have found the website and it looks like fun, but I'd love some input from people who have actually taken it !

The Fort Ti ferry is pretty fun. It's a cable ferry. Takes about 10ish minutes to get across. Check the hours of operation though. I know it doesnt run year round.
I'm not familiar with the Wheel Inn. It sounds intriguing!

What vter said. Check the date/times not open all year and closes in the evening. Still 8 bucks one way. Goes pretty quick, sometimes you have to wait for it to fill but they are good about sending it across empty or light to keep things moving. I like taking it every once in awhile.

You won't have to wait long for the ferry. It's a nice ride. I used to go to the Wheel Inn all the time when I first moved to Vermont. It is still good. Now that I have lived here for a few years there are other places I would rather go. You can't beat their breakfast, especially the western omelet. The Iron Lantern and Fairhaven Inn are nice places also.

You won't be disappointed going back to the Wheel Inn.

Thanks for the replies ! We love both the Lantern and the Fairhaven Inn. Those will be on our list too. And the new Blue Cat Bistro in Castleton is good, too. The location is odd, behind the pizza place.. but the food was top notch !
