Arel, I'm so sorry about Sammy's passing. But you certainly seemed to do all you could for him and he's now in a better place.

Our pets are truly members of our families, and it's so unbelievably hard to go on after they are gone. But I'm sure the thought of Sammy and Alex romping together and nuzzling each other in pet heaven (and I firmly believe in pet heaven as I've got some pals up there) will make you feel better.

Arel, you are in my heart, as are Sammy's surviving siblings. Thank you for doing all you could for Sammy, who I'm quite sure was aware of your complete love and care for him.

Having heard more instances like this than I can count, I agree with the vet staff that it's likely that Sammy waited until you left to pass. SO many devoted parents of nonhuman beings have had this experience.

I think it was incredibly caring of you to have brought Sammy's body back where the others could sniff him and understand what happened.
This is a truly loving act.

Arel, if you every want to commune with pet parents sharing from the heart about this kind of experience and others, even if you might want to just read their posts, I recommend the
Prayers, Healing, and Support community on the Best Friends Network. It's got some of the most loving human moderators and members ever.

I will be thinking of you, too.

I too am sorry for Sammy!! He is in Kitty heaven praying that you fall in love again! Sammy wants you to be happy and have good memories of him. I have a tear in my eye right now. I lost my baby Joshy! I was so miserable without him, he was my baby, so I ran out and got alittle kitten who at times reminds me of Joshy. His name is Otto, and he cheers my days up. I am sorry.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Your kitties have a wonderful mother and caregiver. Something many don't understand, but us cat people certainly do.

Caregiving is a very draining experience. Whether you're dealing with people or cats or dogs, it's hard to do all you can and still watch them slip away.

I understand your not wanting to "put him down." My kitty of 15 years was dying of kidney failure. She got sick on a Sunday night and she died Thursday morning. I wish I'd been there with her, she was/is such a kitty!

Our Sammie, a Lab retriever, died three years ago of kidney disease which put her into a seizure. The ER vet injected her with the goodbye meds, which was merciful compared to seizing and going out in such an agitated state.

Those were sad days. But all lives here come to an end. I still think of them (and all my past pets) in the present, or as present. They're just in another plane. They are wonderful souls who will always be around. Such gifts, our furry friends!
