I found some interesting information on this guy. Is he discussed much in terms of history in Vermont? Are there any ancestors that still live in Vermont?

I would think his ancestors would be dead by now.

Is he discussed much? Can't recall ever hearing about him in my various courses, nor in the Vermont history books I've read. That is a bit irrelevant though, as Vermont was pretty close mouthed about most leaders in the state, and color didn't make as much an impression as deportment.

There were a few blacks scattered throughout the state back then. I know of one family that lived in Waterbury and the father worked for a lumberyard in Stowe. AFAICT, the family was treated as just another family. There was another larger introduction of blacks a little later on, when there was a black regiment housed at Ft. Ethan Allen in Winooski.

The theater at Lyndon State College is named after him.

This is the Old Stone House Museum in Brownington, home of the Orleans County Historical Society. Built by Alexander Twilight in 1836 and named Athenian Hall it served as a dormitory for students. Every town in the county has a separate exhibit in a room of its own. Pretty neat little diversion if you're out this way. It's only about 5 minutes off of I-91 / exit 26 / Orleans.

Anyone who has an association with either Middlebury College or Lippit (old style) Morgan Horses knows the name Alexander Twilight. He was a Middlebury graduate and the building that houses the teacher education program is named for him:

In the Morgan horse world, the name Twilight shows up in the pedigree of many, many Lippit Morgans, and is a beleive, a reference to Alexander Twilight.
