KWalker,Carolinajack,BR22,ab8mi, etc, and Torey and Arel, although the last two were on a different subject -- I found that all the posters on this thread were fun to chat with (even when getting off subject) -- quite revealing how we all try to understand all sorts of folk. Don't know where any of you are from but when I find the 'place of my dreams,' I hope that people like you are walking around in town, or in a diner just chatting away over a cup of coffee.
Like meeting an old friend for the first time. It was fun and enlightening.

Well hopefully in about 3 years I will be chatting over a cup of coffee in Keene New Hampshire
That's the area I have pretty much settled on so far. Once I do a real life trip, I will know for sure. Right now I live in Texas, but I was a transplant that didn't 'take' so to speak

cool chris, that would be great.
Hey, forget Rednecks--my greatest fear for rural america of the places i love, Vermont, Maine, NH, The Southeast and NW and SW is the increasing encroachment of the cities and their attitude of its their play ground and forget the real people working to give them leisure.
I am very fond of the Bumper Sticker "DONT JERSEY VERMONT" I want to send that to my homestate of South Carolina, "Dont Jersey SC"

I have said 'dont Jersey Vermont' for the short time Ive been here whenever
I read about expansion of Green Mtn. Plaza or Wall*MArT in Bennington.
I dont think VT will get Jersey-ed like Jersey but unfotunately, I cant say the same for SC. It is a crime what they are doing there. We were seriously looking at properties outside the Mt. Pleasant area, Summerville being the top on the list but I just couldnt get over the expansion and how it might affect that area three years from now being as its already out of control. There is/was 'sposed to be a moritoium on it but I dont know what areas they imposed it on.
Dont worry C-Jack...My Mom was born and bred in Charleston. Im not just another Yankee....I have some squatters rights by blood......ha ha
The bumper sticker my uncle has on his Ice Box says "Clean up the South -Buy a Yankee a bus ticket "

Thank you, OPelske! What a nice compliment. I do hope to eat at the Putney Diner next time I am up to VT.
