For gasoline and other "real time" fuel prices a very good website is simply the full name of the state followed by gasprices.com. There you will find current top low and high prices, or you can type in specific locales to get specific station prices, they also have interactive map features, etc. The good thing about this information is that it is reported by regular folks on a constant basis. So, for example for Vermont you would simply type in vermontgasprices.com and for other states just click on the maps or for more detail type in that states name. Like I said a few weeks ago I serve with some folks who deal in the fuel distribution business and at that time they advised what was not just coming but already in progress. The problem is that Vermont does not an aggressive stance on consumer affairs, but good lord spill a few gallons of fuel and they have an entire task force on scene followed up with a fine and payment schedule to make your head spin. For those that have contacted the media and their representatives to include the governor's office, thank you, as this is the only way to get attention focused on this and hopefully get results.

i live in nj in ocean county, the gas is 1.97 per gallon. vt pays about 25 to 30 cent more per gallon from what i have seen these last couple pf years driving back and forth. I do know that i would rather pay 25 cents more per gallon then tolls on the highways and high property taxes. just my 2 cents( or 25)

I paid $2.23 this week in town, though I heard that the stations over on Riverside are down to $2.17.

I saw $2.07 in Rutland tonight and that's at stations that aren't usually the cheapest ones that we usually frequent, so it's probably even lower elsewhere in town.

1.99 at the Irving station off the Ascutney exit of 91. Also 1.99 down 131 at the Citgo station that is at the 131/106 intersection.

For fuel price shopping just go to vermontgasprices.com and you can research by town, region, specific stations, etc. Click on the map feature and it will bring up the station prices which you can then click on for even more specific information. No need to drive around or rely on word of mouth, the information is available in virtual real time. Lots of people keep the data updated. Really helps when you are traveling outside of your area or even if you leave state as this data exists for every state.

Gas in VT has come down quite a bit but it still is the 4th most expensive in the nation. Currently 23 cents more than the national average. Interesting article on wcax.com and burlingtonfreepress.com that says 2 months ago VT gas prices were the lowest in the country. Another interesting fact is Burlington gas stations are making on average 46 cents per gallon compared to the national average of 29. Historically the markup has been 9-10 cents a gallon. I originally contacted various news outlets on the issue as well as various state agencies and it looks like Bernie Sanders now has federal agencies looking into it.

Both of these articles ran today.
