Default thinking of relocating to Vermont

Looking for some input about relocating to vermont. Reason is to be closer to family in surrounding states and sick of California. Looking for a place in woods/mountainous area. Love to be in a friendly, family oriented, open-minded, liberal, rural community to settle in with my children. We love to ski, hunt, fish, kayak, enjoy most outdoor activities, we love wine and good food so share with family/friends/nieghbors. I believe in the slow food movement taking place, so I would like to have acerage to have a small organic farm and contribute to farmers market. We believe in God, but do not want a community that shoves religion down your throat. Any suggestions of where to start looking?

One thing you left out.....jobs? How do you plan to support yourself (would it be the farm you speak of)? You've pretty much described Vermont. Best area for farming/crops is the Champlain Valley (a tad warmer, better soils). The Connecticut River valley also has some good farmland.
