Where is best place in vermont to buy a farm with acerage and out buildings

that is a good question. almost anywhere in the state, perhaps mid state or northern that would be easier to find. Here in southeastern VT there is not much in the way of farm or acreage for sale. The market is quite limited here.
Have you looked in the StJ area?

Try to find somebody who lives in the area where you are interested and put out feelers at the local realtors, etc. We bought some land near Springfield and found it by dealing with local people and really doing your homework paid off. (Its easy for "locals" to rip off newbies if you aren't careful." A retired farmer sold it to us and we found out there was a lot more available than what some had told us. If you really want some land in VT, don't give up.
